If you are looking for a way to offer downloadable content to your active subscribers you can easily do so by following this tutorial.
- Self-hosted WordPress install (on your own server)
- WP eStore digital download plugin
- WP eMember membership plugin
Set up a membership level for your subscribers
First, we will set up a membership level so users can subscribe on your WordPress blog. To do this go to WP eMember->Membership Level from your WordPress dashboard and create a new membership/subscription level.
Once you click the “Submit” button the new membership/subscription level will be created. You can see all of your existing membership/subscription levels from the Membership level menu.
Configure a digital download
WP eStore plugin allows you to configure downloads for your members/subscribers.
Just enter a name, price (if offered as free download the plugin will ignore the price) and URL to your digital content to create a new download.
If you don’t have your downloadable file hosted somewhere you can quickly upload it by using the Upload File button.
All of your existing downloads can be viewed/edited from the Manage Products menu of WP eStore plugin.
Offer digital download to your members/subscribers
Create a new page where you wish to offer downloadable content to your subscribers (e.g. users who have subscribed to the “Silver” membership that you created earlier). Click the WP eStore shortcodes button on the visual editor and insert a “download” shortcode.
Make sure that the page can only be accessed by one of your active members/subscribers.
If anyone tries to access the page they will see the following message:
When a member/subscriber is logged in they will be able to download the file:
You can customize the look and feel of your downloadable content using various shortcodes. For example:
